Getting proper nutrition is a very important part of feeling good. Start by making small changes. Changing food habits and mindset is very difficult for some.
Below is listed the basics of ideal nutrition. Everyone is different but this is a good starting place. Remove junk put in good stuff.
Macro-nutrient ratios (in percentage of calories): 30% protein, 30% fat, 40% carbohydrates
Good proteins: pasture raised meat (grass fed and organic), eggs from pasture raised poultry, dairy products from pasture raised animals, soaked and/or sprouted beans, wild caught fish.
Good fats: animal fats from pasture raised animals, dairy products from pasture raised animals (butter, cheese, etc.), organic cold pressed oils (coconut, olive, other nut and seed oils), properly prepared nuts and seeds.
Good carbs: variety of fresh organic produce(vegetables) raw and cooked, properly prepared grains or legumes, fruit, when in doubt throw more veggies in the mix.
Let’s not forget water! We need a lot every day to help digest our food and process out toxins. Take your body weight and divide by 2 . This should give a good goal to work up to. However, if above 100 ounces some people need this and some don’t, it’s very individual.
What’s not said yet. Eating a wide variety of foods will give you more exposure to vitamins and nutrients such as phytonutrients from plants that are only available in certain plants. Plants are very cleansing. We need these fats in a good ratio to fuel our body and it’s processes well. We need good proteins for our structure and hormones and neurotransmitters. We need to nurture and feed our good bacteria (prebiotics) and alter the balance of the bacteria in our guts when needed(probiotics and probiotic food such as kefir, sauerkraut, etc.) We are a complicated working system that needs good input to function well.
